A 16th Century Brass Alms Dish of Rare Small Size
This unusually small alms dish shows the Christ child in the centre, arms outstretched, and a halo around his head. The rim has a band of punch-decorated crosses, there is some wear to the outside of the rim, but could be forgiven when considering the rare size - 6.5 inches (16.5 centimetres).
Provenance - a private collection of early sculptures and objects in North Yorkshire.
See Klaus Tiedemann, "Nuremberg Alms Dishes", page 68.
