We stock a substantial and varied range of carved oak panels from the 16th and 17th centuries. These would once have been part of cabinet furniture, such as cupboards or chests, or formed sections of interior ‘muntin’ screens, and were retained when the original item was broken up, as pieces fell out of fashion, or rooms were demolished. Our collection also includes several examples of exquisitely carved sculptures, from as early as the 15th century, sometimes retaining the original polychrome. These sculptures are often religious in origin, depicting the Virgin and Child, or a male or female saint.
