A Beautifully Proportioned Elizabethan Oak Chest
The lid, made from a single oak board, has run moulding to the back and front edges, whilst the ends have got a chip-carved detail, retaining the original iron strap hinges and central hasp.
The run moulding and chip carving are repeated on the front board, which retains the original lock plate and lock. The end boards have the typical “V” cut-out, whilst the front are formed into projecting knees.
Of exceptional rich deep colour and “surface”, both to the oak and iron work.
