Early 19th Century Ash Windsor Armchair with Low Back and Crinoline Stretcher
The elegant proportions of this early 19th Century Windsor armchair would suggest it came from the workshop of George Nicholson of Rockley (fl 1831-41). The single ring-turned leg, together with the very finely three ring-turned arm support, are very typical of this highly skilled chairmaker. The timber used in the chair has been very well chosen, and retains a lovely rich original patination.
Rockley, circa 1825.
