A Fine Charles I Oak Chest

The thick boarded top with generous overhang is supported on shaped knuckled hinges. The front has a heavily guilloche carved top rail, above three lozenge carved panels. The bottom rail has a wonderfully shaped bottom edge, cut from the solid and is decorated with a gouge carved motif.

The chest is a lovely rich patinated oak and comes from the South West, circa 1630-40.

Width 50 inches, depth 21 inches, height 26.5 inches.
