A Good James I Oak Deed Box
Having a boarded top, with moulded edge, and narrow lopers to the underside, opening on the original iron strap hinges.
The front panel is beautifully carved, with a series of roundels, alternatively filled with either a rose petal or daisy head motif. Between the roundels are six pairs of carnation, or tulip, flowers, all embellished by many small carved circles. Set into the decoration is a superbly shaped iron escutcheon.
