A Late 17th Century Aubusson Verdure Tapestry
Worked in coloured silks and wool, exotic birds and deer are depicted beside a river, with trees and flowers.
The tapestry retains its original border of trailing flowers and fruit, with cherubs holding a crown above a lion’s head in the top corners.
France, circa 1680-1700.
