A Fine Mid-18th Century Wrought Iron Standing Rushnip and Candleholder
The stem, terminating in a well-defined acorn finial, above a circular shaft fitted with a spring adjustable bracket, supporting the rushnip and candle socket, below which is a grease pan, with a serrated edge. Towards the bottom of the stem is a discoid knop to prevent the bracket sinking too close to the floor.
Standing on four well-shaped curved legs, terminating in flat “penny” feet.
A lovely rare and original piece of mid-18th century lighting.
English, circa 1760.
Height 54 inches.
