Charles I Oak Armchair
A generously proportioned, mid-seventeenth century oak armchair, in fine untouched condition. The symetrically carved back panel with fleshy fern-like leaves and half roundels is very typical of the work found in South Gloucestershire. The well-shaped horizontal arms are supported on a quite complicated turning, which extends down to form the legs and terminates in block feet joined by square stretchers.
Gloucestershire, circa 1630.
Width 23.5, height 46.5, depth 16.5 inches.
