A Pair of Charles I Carved Female Figures
The two figures would form part of the framework of an oak chest – known as muntins, they would flank the top horizontal panel on a very elaborate piece of furniture, normally having three panels along the top and five panels below.
Gloucestershire/Wiltshire, circa 1635-40.
