An Extremely Well-Proportioned Standing Oak Cupboard in the Laudian Manner
The lifting top, opening to reveal a shallow compartment, above a frieze decorated with pierced corbels and dentil mouldings. The cupboard, with canted sides, is supported on superbly-turned baluster supports. The door and sides, decorated with arcaded panels.
Below the cupboard is a shallow drawer, which again has pierced corbel decoration, and slightly more bulbous supports, which are joined by the original open pot-shelf, above a well-shaped bottom rail.
Having an outstanding, rich colour and deep patination, the cupboard is in a virtually untouched condition.
Possibly East Anglian, circa 1640.
