A Charles II Oak Serving Dresser

The boarded top, with a deep and generous moulding, sits over three drawers, oak-lined and “side hung”. The fronts, decorated with intricate mitred mouldings, set in geometric and symmetrical designs. The muntins between each drawer are embellished with vertical applied split mouldings.

Around the waist is a further deep moulding, this time convex in section, which, like the top moulding, continues around the sides which are panelled.

The front legs are robustly turned and incorporate the original “half-cup” feet.

Often referred to as a “Jacobean” turned leg base, this is an outstanding example of its type for colour, surface and originality.
