A Highly Decorative and Impressive Pair of Early 18th Century Carved and Gessoed Candlesticks

Having bold vase-shaped nozzles above stems carved with acanthus leaves and gadrooning. The spreading bases, with scrolled feet and central cartouches. The patinated silvered finish is over gesso (with the underlying terracotta colour just grinning through) and a carved wood base.
