A Large and Highly Impressive Queen Anne Period Pewter Beefeater Flagon
The flat "beefeater" type lid, carrying four clear hallmarks, is raised by a twin cusp thumbpiece, set above a single curved handle.
The gently tapering drum, above an unusually wide ovolo footrim, with a flat base, is engraved with the initials of two churchwardens - 'C P' and 'T D', together with the date '1702'.
The hallmarks are for John Trapp II, who worked in Worcester during the period 1677 to 1707.
Standing 12.5 inches to the top of the thumbpiece, and 7.5 inches across the base.
Lovely deep pewter colour, and in excellent condition.
