An Extremely Fine Tudor Carved Panel

The centre, deeply carved with a stylised flower head, supported by four straps or belts, with buckled terminals.

In the four quarters created by the belts, are individual whorls with 12 curling scrolls around the edge, to form a perfect cartouche.

The panel is stamped with owner’s initials – ‘R R over C’, and then separately, ‘R’.

English, circa 1520-1550.
