A Rare Queen Anne Oak Kneehole Desk

Of beautiful small proportions, the two-plank top, with a simple edge moulding, above one long drawer and central recessed cupboard, which is flanked by two columns of drawers, separated by a fine D-shaped moulding.

It must be assumed that this piece was made for a wealthy country family around 1700-1710, and has had quite a gentle life, as the condition is so original. It is very unusual to find this form of desk made in oak as they are more usually from walnut or, later, mahogany.

English, circa 1700-1710.

Width 31 inches, depth 19.5 inches, height 29 inches.

Ref 898
