A Tremendous Tudor Carved Oak Newel Post Finial
Carved in the round, this standing lion has a wonderful rich tightly curled mane which flows well down the lion’s back. The toes of the back paws grip the bottom edge, whilst the front paws rest on a scrolled edged shield.
English, possibly Devon, circa 1540-1560.
Height 17.5 inches.
